People need to be better informed on what exactly rape
is. To be able to give a precise
definition, I googled “rape.” What came
up was, “the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress
to have sexual intercourse; any act of sexual intercourse that is force upon a
person; statutory rape.” I then looked up statutory rape, which is “sexual
intercourse with a girl under the age of consent.” This definition struck me as strange. So it is only statutory rape if the girl is
underage? A boy cannot fall victim to
this type of rape? What if he was forced
into it by an older woman? There are so
many different divisions of rape that most people do not know about. There is a such thing as spousal rape or
partner rape. Just because you are in a
relationship with someone it does not mean that he or she can just have their
way with you whenever they feel like it.
It is still rape. It is still
someone using force to have intercourse.
This is wrong! It is wrong to
force anyone to do anything that they either do not want to do or do not feel
comfortable doing. These are the type of
things that we need to be more educated on.
Rape is rape, and all rape is bad.
I fully agree with you Devyn. Rape is wrong. People need to know and be informed that it is always wrong, even though people try do it at parties when they think the girl is too drunk to remember. I feel that it is just wrong for anyone to force themselves on another person like that. Whichever way you interpret rape, its wrong in any context.Statutory rape struck me as very weird too. Rape can happen to both sex's of people even a boy and an older woman, even though you may not here it happening, it still may happen. Just like in class we talked about the things People might say like "oh well she was too drunk and she just laid there and did nothing." It's wrong in every way you think of it. I strongly agree that people need to be more educated about rape, because people should that ALL rape is bad. people need to know more about it and that all forms of it are wrong.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about the relationship thing especially. As we talked about in class, for years upon years, by law a husband could not technically rape his wife and vice versa which is the most absurd thing ever. It doesn't matter what the relationship is, like you said rape is rape and society today needs a hell of a lot more education on that fact.
